BET Struggles to Relate with Black Viewers
The Black Entertainment Television Network was created to bring authentic representations of African-Americans to cable television. After a couple of decades, however, it finds itself under intense criticism for pandering to the lowest possible tastes. A lot of African-Americans have given up on BET and are turning to other channels that have black shows.

Quake Rescue Operations Widespread in China
Officials in China have warned that the death toll from this week's devastating earthquake could hit 50,000. State media say that all 58 counties and townships damaged by Monday's quake have been reached. Host Renee Montagne talks about rescue operations with NPR's Louisa Lim, who is in a hard-hit area about 50 miles from the provincial capital of Chengdu.
